The 2011 (2012) Kia Picanto Review

Kia has just released their newest take on the Picanto series... and this time around, they got it right!

I had the chance to drive around the newest model of the Kia Picanto and I gotta say, it was impressive! Whoa!  I gotta stop gushing like a 16 year old chick here and give you some specs of the model I'm reviewing...

The Specs:
Model:    Kia Picantio 2011 (2012)
Engine:    1.0L Kappa MPI I-3 SOHC 12V Engine
Power:    69Hp at 6,200 rpm
Torque:     9.6kg-m at 3,500 rpm.

Transmission options are manual and automatic.

PRICE:     The MT variant is priced at Php545,000 while the AT variant is priced at Php599,000.

The one I got to drive is the Automatic Transmission variant.

The competition (Direct):
The Hyundai i10, Suzuki Celerio, Chery QQ(??), Chevrolet Spark

The Interior:
The interior is nothing to sneeze at except possibly when you have a cold..  maybe not even then... unless your cold is really, really bad.

The interiors trim of the dashboard is simple yet elegant.. it's made of hard plastic but doesn't project any cheapness... it really looks sturdy and would last a lot longer than you.  The driver's console also looks great with a lit up and readable tachometer, speedometer and fuel gauge.  A trip computer is also included so you can monitor your fuel consumption.  There is also an eco display which displays "ECO" to let you know if you are driving economically... Duh!  One thing I miss is that I can't see the engine temp gauge on the console... according to the manual, when the car is starting to overheat, it will display the Engine Temp symbol on the console... (Hookay! That might be a little too late)...

The new Picanto comes with comfortable bucket seats which can be reclined and moved forward or reardward.  No height adjustments on the seat but it still gives you a commanding view of the road.  The car comes with one glove compartment and at the front passenger seat, below the seat is an extra drawer (for shoes or other documents) which is really cool.

The only real drawback is the boot which is really tiny... you can probably fit 2 duffel bags side by side and then if you want to add some more then you have to stack them up... but if you really need more space, and you're not carrying passengers at the back, you can get some additional space by folding the back seat which folds flat!  Not as flat as the boot floor (there's about an inch differnce in height) but flat nonetheless which is more than I can say with other small cars in the same category...

All models available here in the Phiippines come with central locking, car alarm, keyless entry, power windows, power side mirrors, power steering (Motor Driven Power Steering - MDPS) and a CD/radio player.  Although here, they swapped the player with a JVC one.. It's decent but the original player was better looking and I think more compatible with the dasboard... they probably swapped it to help slash off the pricing a bit...  It also comes with Manual Airconditioning... the climate control was swapped with the manual one... guess why?  To slash some price off the top again...  The climate control would have given this car a sense of elegance... I mean, a mini car with climate control is almost unheard of unless you're driving a mini cooper.. but alas, price is more important and they had to keep it down to make it competitive in the small car segment.. There's no stop/start engine button in the Philippine model either for the same reasons as the above, I guess.

Regardless of the compromises they had to make to keep pricing down, the interior is still better than most small cars out there.. and that is already saying a lot!

The Exterior:
With an exterior designed by Peter Schreyer (also a designer for Audi), this little car looks really sporty and cool... no more girly designs like the last model.  This little car is uh... uhm... a man's little car!  Seriously, the exterior is really great from the body design to the sporty headlights!  Fog lamps come as standard (Yeah!) and 15" alloy rims are standard (Double Yeah!) on the automatic version.  Although it is a small car, it still manages to make itself look like a small tiger and would definitely appeal to the younger dudes out there.  I can go on and on and on about how cool and awesome it looks but your taste may vary so let me stop blabbering about the coolness of it's sporty look (Just look at the pictures!).

This new model is a teensy bit longer than the previous model and also a teensy bit wider which gives the impression of better stability (I hope!)  while cornering at high speeds (I haven't tried cornering at high speeds and have no intention of doing so)...

A rear wiper and rear backing lights is also available as standard for all variants.  It's too bad the electronic folding side mirrors didn't make it to our shores but such is life...

The Ride:
The feel of the car while you're on the road is deceptive... small bumps and other small road imperfections are just handled very well by the car... also, you don't feel like you're driving a small car.  Normally, a small car is hindered by small bumps and bruises on the road but this is one small car that feels like a big car.  The cabin is also relatively quiet on the inside and you can barely hear the engine throttling away... although to be fair, I haven't tried to run the car faster than 60Kph, I mean, how could I? I'm in the Philippines running in the Greater Metro Manila Area!  Traffic is horrendous here!  I have not tried highway speeds (NLEX/SLEX) yet and I would really love to see if the cabin is still as quiet when running at 80Kph or higher...  speaking of the engine, having a 1.0L seems really low... with only 998cc of power and an output of only 69Bhp, you'd think that this car would be struggling on the straight road let alone any uphill travel.  Although I have driven the car for just a short time, I was able to put it to some paces... I went up mall parking ramps from the ground floor to the fifth floor (and then watched a movie!!), I went up some relatively steep elevations (Within QC and at the Fort) and I have yet to hear the engine struggle... granted, there were only 2 passengers but that is still very impressive for me... it's actually surprising!  Hopefully, I would be able to test it going up to Antipolo and once I do, I'll update this post.

The Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) performs rather well and is very light when running on low speeds for more control but gets a bit stiffer when on higher speeds.  Making a U-turn on the new Kia Picanto is easy peasy while parallel parking is a breeze on this car.  Although I have to say, the horn on the steering wheel is a bit stiff... I had to press it really hard to get the horn to sound off (I would've used the word honking but somehow it sounds a bit too porny... hehe).  Also, there's a bit of sharpness protruding at the edges of the horn too.

Fuel consumption (FC )should be no question on this car since it has a small engine.  But I find that my FC at around 8-10KpL which is far from the published Fuel Consumption (16-18KpL for AT and 18-20KpL for the manual).  Be reminded though that I have not driven it for long and FC may improve with prolonged usage (or maybe my driving just sucks!).

Summary:
To sum everything up, this proves to be the best version of the Picanto yet.  It may not be perfect but it has an almost (emphasis on almost) perfect balance of usability, style and accessories while keeping the price low for the mass market.  Which means Kia is really doing something right.  I mean, after the success of the Sorento and the Sportage, and spitting out more cool models like the Soul and the new Picanto with the New Rio right on it's heels, the Korean car manufacturer is now proving itself a force to be reckoned with in the automotive industry.  If the Japanese Automakers don't watch their back, they just might find themselves looking at Kia's butt from a mile away while eating their dust.

This is my first review of a car and if you're wondering what are my credentials, there is none.  I'm just a normal everyday driver just like you and approached this review as such.  Take it as you want it.

Update!!! (07.19.2011)
I was able to go to Antipolo today since I had some rather important business to attend to...  I brought the 2011 Kia Picanto with me to try out the steady uphill travel to Antipolo.  To my delight, there wasn't any problems going up Antipolo, the ride was smooth and I even had the aircon on!  Really, this car is great but my FC during the travel was still 8-10Kph which is not good for a 3 cylinder car.  If this persists until the first checkup, I'm going to ask the dealer to have this checked out.  But this car is still a joy to drive and I hope I get the chance to break it in before the checkup... it might help improve the FC.. who knows...  anyway, I'll update this post again once I finish breaking it in.

'Till next everybody!  Mumbling my vroom! vroom!!!

  3. For a first review, you've done very well. The only thing I want to add is that the FC will improve with more - and more spirited - driving. This is indeed an man's little car!

  5. Hi. I purchased the New Picanto 2011 last June 29. What i've discovered about the Fuel Consumption is that it sucks. In the first week, we drove it mostly on the NLEX going to San Fernando Pampanga and back to Manila. Before leaving for Pampanga, we filled it up at our suking gasolinahan at full tank automatic stop, then reset the trip meter to 0. We then drove to Pampanga, and drove back 2 days later. We then filled it up at the same gas station full tank automatic stop and took the reading. We calculated our fuel consumption at 10 K/L. That was a HORRIBLE SHOCK to us. Btw, we were very vigilant that the ECO light was always on when we drove... and I mean ALWAYS. We immediately informed Kia Silver City, but were told to just continue observing. We did the same routine the following week and still got 10 K/L. Remember that they advertise it to be at 22 K/L CITY DRIVING. They even told us that this spec was for the old Picanto and that the new engine of the 2011 Picanto is much more efficient and would get something like 29 K/L city driving. I expected it to be somewhere at 15 to 18 real world city driving. But getting 10 K/L on the expressway, nonetheless, is simply HORRIBLE and could be construed as deceitful (false advertising). We are now scheduled for a thorough diagnostics with Kia Marikina. If this problem will not be fixed, I may have to take this matter to another level. To Kia's credit, they are very eager into looking into our problem and solving it.
PS: The Picanto computerized dashboard console has a setting to show you your average fuel consumption. I was getting only around 8 K/L for the whole 2 weeks that I've owned it.

  6. nice review sir! i hope you can come up with an update on this one especially with the fuel consumption. I also would like to know if the car is stable and its 3 cylinder engine is not whining at 100 kph.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thank you for the new comments! I'll be going up Antipolo in a few days and will update this as soon as I can. Going 100Kph? Not possible when going up Antipolo, but I also will schedule another trip out of town via NLEX... we'll see..

Regarding FC, yup, it truly sucks... but I have been aware that FC will suck at first... I think it's even discussed in some KIA forums.. but it's also been said that FC will improve after some time.. I hope it does! Coz, if it doesn't, I will probably have a talk with my dealer..

Regarding the ECO light, I find that this only distracts you from driving properly.. you'd want to have your car change to a higher gear as soon as it is possible to get a good FC feedback from the car... which is why manual transmissions trumps the automatic.. try not to let the ECO light warning hold you back...

Oh and the trip computer which computes your FC s not accurate... do the full tank technique.. it is much more accurate...

  8. Nice review sir! I hope that the FC will improve after the break in period. Now i'm really torn between this car and ots rivals like chevrolet spark, hyundai i10 and suzuki celerio. Kia has the looks and space but lags in safety features like dual srs airbags and abs in the celerio or the driver srs airbag in i10 and spark. But the new picanto has the complete power amenities as compared woth its rivals. But its beauty comes with a higher price tag as compared with othera. Now i'm really confused on which car to get. Any feedbacks?

  9. i've owned the 2011 chevy spark for quite some time now. it continues to give me 14-15 km/liter city driving and mind you this is not old man driving. i can get it up to 100 km/h easily at 2k rpm. the spark is much bigger inside compared to the i10's and new picanto, this has been documented by other critics. to those interested in the spark you may text me at 09153082470 should you want me to refer you the mgr. that helped me get the car. - Tyler

  10. I hope you continue to update us re the FC... I like to buy this car, but my first requirement is that FC should be great... hows the FC as compared to the Celerio?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thank you for the inputs Tyler! It's good to know that there are more cars to choose from when it comes to the sub compact category!

To the latest anonymous commenter, I have updated the post to include my short trip to Antipolo. I'm planning of breaking it in soon since I have to leave for a while for some business out of the country.. but according to the latest reading from my trip computer, my FC is 8L/100km. SO that's roughly 12.5KM per liter. Bear in mind that (also as per my post) that the trip computer is not accurate. I haven't done the full tank technique since I haven't full tanked recently but I will update the blog post and the comments once I do so.

  13. good review.. I am very interested with Kia Picantos new look but the FC really is bothering me. I am buying my celerio next week due to better FC results..

    ReplyDelete
  14. Any updates / new reviews? I'm really undecided between kia picanto AT and chevy spark AT. Picanto has better exterior design, with fog lamps and power windows but cost PHP 30K more and no airbags and ABS.

Chevy spark is 30K cheaper, has airbag(driver side only) and ABS, better interior design, perhaps better fuel mileage and cheaper PMS costs but only has front power windows and fog lamps are not standard. Also an agent mentioned that the spark Automatic tranny has a feature where in if you stalled you can still push the car without damaging the transmission. don't know if the same can be said for Picanto. It will be a nice feature for an automatic kapag nasiraan ka, you don't have to stay sa gitna ng kalye and wait for the tow service to arrive.

i've heard a negative feedback from a picanto customer during my test drive for a chevy spark. He was also there to test drive the spark because he's looking forward to sell his new picanto. May kumakalampag daw sa makina after few weeks. Don't know if nagkataon lang ito but he was very disappointed with the picanto.

Perhaps others can contribute more reviews? Hirap magdecide between the 2, walang itulak kabigin.

  15. Hi! Thanks again for all the new comments! I have seen the new Spark AT and to be honest... It was one of the first ones that I was interested in but at that time, only the manual was available. Now that it's here, I will have to say that I'm already in love with my Picanto (Lookwise!). Though please refer to forums with regards to the Chevy spark.. just a friendly reminder but I've heard stories about bad service and of course expensive parts too. But don't take my word for it, research it and I'm sure you'll reach a decision that is true for you. I'm still monitoring the FC on my Picanto since sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not.. Oh yeah, I've seen the white celerio too and it is a much better color for the celerio than the pink one!

Plus, I have a trip to Pampanga coming in a few weeks... maybe I'll update the post after then..

  16. hi..im a prospective buyer of the new picanto and it was only the other day that i started to have second thoughts whether to really purchase a unit. at first i also wanted the chevy spark because it's also got a nice exterior design and good specs..the thing is, from many reviews and reactions that i read, there were many complaints from the owners specially about the services and pricey parts of the car. what also made me decide not to get the spark was it's dimension. it's the smallest compared to celerio, i10 and picanto..enough space for 3 adults at the backseat is also important to me.the back seat of spark is somewhat cramped, while the 1st gen picanto had enough room for 3 adults at the back. the new picanto is even sort of longer and wider than its predecesssor. it's true that chevy is 30mm taller than the new picanto, but the new picanto is 100mm wider and 100 mm longer than chevy.

now, why do i like picanto?i read a lot of reviews and reactions (local and international) re the new picanto and i also read reviews on other subcompact cars- not only chevy but also i10 and celerio. most reviews favored the picanto and i think they were fairly objective coz i myself made an evaluation and comparison and picanto topped the list.

but now there are two things that bother me. the first is that the philippine version seems overpriced. i happened to learn the other day that the euro and uk prices are almost exactly the same with our local price, but there are important specs that have been removed in the phil version like abs,airbags,start/stop engine, sunroof, management stability control and others. ok n rin kung walang sunroof and other specs, but with those other important specs removed, they're selling the unit with the same international price ?? i think the unit should be at least 50k or even 75k lower than its current price. another thing that bothers me is what is being reported in this blog regarding the FC. the report here is contrary to the claim that the new picanto - claimed to be a very fuel efficient car - runs 18-20 or even 21 km/l on city driving with traffic while the highway driving is around 27 km/l. now it's actually like 8-10km/l??

i'm really bothered by these concerns. based on my needs, subcompact cars fit me the best..but now these concerns are sort of holding me back..totoo ba na hanggang ganon lang kababa ang FC nya?..and do you think bearable n rin yong price kahit wla yong mga importanteng specs..hope you'll enlighten me on this..

  17. ive been doing some research about this new Kia Picanto to see users review about this car because my uncle wants to buy one. and upon seeing your review, im having some second thoughts about recommending the car. anyways.. i am a proud owner of a suzuki celerio and wow its fuel consumption is the best! thanks

  18. ganun din ang problem ko sa kia picanto 2011. just bought one this September from Kia Manila Bay. naglalaro lang talaga din ako sa 8km per liter sa city driving. sobrang malayo sa sinasabi nilang 20+km per liter.

hindi ko naman puwedeng isoli to.

  19. Hi, thanks you for the nice blog....

I would be grateful if you could update us:

    (i) on the FC (this is really a big concern) Are other KIA users having the same problem??

(ii) Whether the car is suitable or powerful enough to carry the driver and 3 other passengers when there is a steep slope??

(iii) I have heard the power steering does not completely make the steering wheel "smooth" for the driving compared to other cars? Is it true?

(iv)Are the sound instruments installed in the car of good quality? Do we have nice and loud sounds?? :-)

    Thanking you

  20. i'm reconsidering celerio..sa totoo lang gustong gusto ko sya dahil consistent yong pagiging fuel efficient based sa mga reports ng mga owner, walang major problem silang naeencounter at may kamurahan ang PMS nya..kaya lang di na ako nagkainterest noon kasi tingin p lang medyo cramped na yong rear seat ng celerio..kaya kinonsider ko ang picanto dahil nga daw fuel efficient sya. but due to complaints from the owners..di ko na sya kukunin mahirap magsisi sa bandang huli..i went to world trade center in manila bay to attend an important event, then i saw suzuki branch along with kia and hyundai across the street..so sabi sige n nga bisitahin ko nga ang celerio at matingnan talaga ng mabuti..ganda talaga ng itsura ng celerio..simple pero elegante ang dating ng style, and to determine whether the rear seat is cramped, i even asked the agent and his co-worker to join me in the rear seat..di sila talaga mataba at di rin payat..ako rin ganon ang built but a bit bulgy..i was surprised na though dikit dikit kami, di naman ako nasikipan!i think celerio looks cramped on the inside kasi pagtiningnan mo sya mula s labas may kababaan ng kaunti yong roof nya..but things may not appear as they seem to be..enough naman yong space nya sa rear seat..even the legroom is ok..that's why i'm reconsidering celerio..

  22. Hi guys!

pasensya na medyo OT ang comment na ito.

With regards to the Kia Picanto's "real world" FC of 8-10kms/liter (instead of the 20+kms/liter as advertised) is something to be concerned with.

I want just want to share something:

    I recently purchased a Kia Soul 1.6 A/T.

According to Kia New Manila, it's FC is about 11-13kms/liter (city driving). So it came as a shock for me when my Kia Soul was only able to perform 6kms/liter (city driving).

That's about half of what was promised!

Is there a problem with their units? Or are they just making up their FC estimates (just to move their units)? Or am I just a lousy driver?

Don't get me wrong. I love my Kia Soul. It has a great ride. It turns on a dime. It's spacious. It has a higher ground clearance than most cars, etc.

I love driving it around the metro.

My Kia Soul was able to live up to most of its promises EXCEPT for the lousy FC.

I am still hoping that my FC improves over time.

  23. Hi All!!! Sorry for the brief hiatus... I was out of town because of my day job...

anyway, for the poster with the itemized questions:

1.> Yes. FC does suck big time. If you compare it from the published FC you'll just cry your heart out. I instead opted to compare it to my old lovable and faithful car, a mitsubshi Lancer.. On this comparison, it does much better. Actually, just recently, I was gassing up only once a week (full tank) on home-offic and vice versa trips. That is fine with me coz in the old, I was gassing up almost every 3 days. Still, it still does irk me that I am not meting the published rates.. jsut a litlle though since I've grown to love the little car.
And yes again. There have been numerous complaints of other KIA users with regards to the FC. I've even heard it from my dealer directly. But this complainants were all from the automatic model. I haven't heard any complaints yet for those who bought the automatic. So if you bought a manual KIA picanto, please, we would like to hear from you.

2.> I've had the car full of passengers and I haven't had trouble driving slopes... but my sister in law tried driving it and she said that she was having trouble with elevatd sopes... since I was not having truble with it, I chalk it up wth driving style... you just gotta know when to use a ead start and when to feed gas at the right moments... I guess... remember, I even got this up to Antipolo and I found no problems going up.

3.> I'm not famiiar with the problem with the MDPS. But I guess they were reacting differently due to the fact that at slow speed, the steering is really light... but at relatively high speeds, the steering feels tighter. I had no problems with it.

4.> The sound system is decent. But most will opt to buy new speakers with really good base. I'm not into the boom shaking sound systems... as long as I can listen to the radio and play some cd's then I am good.

  25. Hi,

I just bought the new picanto a month ago but haven't tested the full tank technique but as I observe my ride for city driving the FC is at 13-17 KM/L.

Last week I went to tagaytay. I'm from Cavite (Bacoor). I was not able to observe the KM but I only comsume around 250-300 pesos kasi 500 pinagasolina ko before ako umalis Cavite. Then paguwi ko from Tagaytay eh almost half lang yung nabawas which surprised me.

My dealer told me that the automatic na picanto have a problem with its fuel consumption kaya napullout sya.

I'm still observing the FC but I'm happy with my Picanto. :)

  26. Hi Pink Butterfly!

I'm a guy! And I don't now much about cars either aside from the basics. Anyhoo... the best way for you to select a car to go to showrooms of Kia, Hyundai, Honda or whatever you prefer. Get onboard the car that interests you and get a "feel" for it. If at all possible, test drive a unit! This will give you a much better idea of which car to buy! Good luck!

  27. Thanks...how about specifics between the 2 cars of my choice...I dont know what are the right questions that i should be asking...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi Pink Buttefly!

    Thanks for visiting again.

Hmmm... specifics... that's very detailed and should be rightly answered by experts than lil' 'ol me.. but I can try...

The Kia Picanto - You already know what I think of the car! I've blogged about it in detail and what led you to this blog in the first place. So I wont go into details in here again.

    Let's talk about the..

The Chevy Spark - I haven't test driven (drove?) a unit but like the Picanto, I like it's modern design and styling. I think it has a similar cabin space with the Picanto but I still think the Picanto has a bigger baggage space especially when the back seats are folded flat! I can't really claim that it has better FC than the Picanto but I hear it is a bit better.

Personally (this means it is of my opinion only), what turned me off on the Chevy Spark is the rumors of bad service. Please be reminded that these are only rumors so take it with a grain of salt and consult others and Chevy forums. Next, is the availability of parts. It's an American car and a new model, you can ask around with regards to parts but still, compared to Toyota and Mitsubishi, the parts might be scarce. 2 years ago, Korean car parts were also scarce but have now improved tremendously. Still not the same as Japanese parts but it's decently better.

Again, I must emphasize for you to read on forums with regards to service and parts. And to test drive each one for better judgement.

For me, I sat on both cars and the Kia Picanto just felt right... at least for me... It felt like meeting a girl for the first time and thinking... yeah me and her can hang a while... ;)

Can't say if it will be the same for you but it would be prudent for you try and feel the car when you try out both. In the end, it will be your choice.

Again, good luck! Hit up the comments again when you've bought your car regardless of which one you pick! I hope to hear from you!

    Liyo

  30. Hi pink butterfly..it took me almost two months comparing and contrasting picanto and spark. marami n rin ako nabasang comments and reactions about them. hindi ko na ieexplain isa isa kasi mahaba. But my decision goes to spark. Mas malaki dimension nya at mas malaki engine nya keysa sa picanto. Spark is also fuel efficient running on 22km/l highway driving and 14-16 km/l city driving. pero syempre depende p rin yan sa nagmamaneho. I was almost decided to get the picanto pero buti na lang nalaman ko kung gano sya kadisappointing about its fuel consumption. mahirap ba humanap ng pyesa pag chevrolet?
hindi na..unless talagang matindi sira ng sasakyan mo o nabangga ng malakas na major part ang dapat palitan . it will take a few wks bago sya mapalitan at maayos. pero s pagkakaalam ko bihira lang ang mga ganong kaso dahil wala namang gustong magkaroon ng major damage o mabangga sasakyan nila - kaya may maintenance period sa casa. dumami na rin dealer sites ng chevy at better na rin yong customer service nila ngyon. they ranked 1st in 2010 customer service satisfaction review followed by suzuki. di pa lumalabas yong pang2011. another good thing about spark is that bago na yong warranty period ng Chevrolet. 10k km or 6 months whichever comes first. if you are planning to buy one, go to chevrolet north edsa branch. ok sila magaccommodate don pagtyatyagaan ka nila kahit tumagal ka pa at maging makulit sa mga tanong mo. why? kasi yan ang experience ko. in fact nakapagpareserve na ko ng spark don pero sa november ko pa makukuha kasi student permit p lang ako s driving at sa november pa ko puwede magapply ng driver's license hehe. nakapagpareserve na ko kasi may balita na magtataas na naman daw ang chevy pruducst due to demand. look for joey pangandian.sya rin ang agent ko sa north edsa. maayos sya kausap. kahit madaling araw pipiltin nyang sagutin mga tanong mo sa text. tell him nirefer ka ni Jojo . ako yon hehe. here's joey's number - 09157286214

  31. Hi, just yesterday, me & my wife dropped by Kia New Manila. It's been a dream for us couple to have a new car someday. And we feel it would be soon. When we saw the brand new Picanto, we liked it so much because of its exterior & interior design. And when a guy there explained to us the whats & hows of the said product, we decided to purchase a Picanto soon.

However, after reading the above comments/posts, im confused na. I have now second thought of having a Picanto and instead look for a better one.

My main concern is the FC. Is there anybody out there who owns a manual one (what we want)... please advise.

    Cavite Hopeful

  33. I'm one of the possible customer of this new Picanto. My main route will always be consistent giving everyone enlightenment on the fuel consumption. 2nd week of October would be the estimated arrival. We are planning to get the automatic transmission. The passenger will be me (190 lbs) and my wife (120 lbs). Daily route will be 4kms from our place in Mandaluyong to Makati. that would be an average of 8-10 kilometers in distance.I believe that the total fuel capacity is 30 liters. My goal is to record the total distance covered by the full tank. This will give me a better understanding of urban fuel consumption.I will also make sure that the RPM will not exceed 2500rpm. THE ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO GET 400 TO 450 KILOMETERS ON A FULL TANK.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Your goal is at least 13 km per liter. You should not exceed 2000rpm and you should learn how to properly give throttle inputs so that the transmission will shift into higher gear as early as possible since its an automatic.

  42. wow long interval after the nov 8 comment. ive been checking on this blog from time to time but really not posting a comment, just now. i'm also waiting for somebody who owns a manual model to share some facts. but so far wala pa, nag check din ako ng ibang forums pero wala ako makita. siguro kase wala masyado kumukuha nung manual kase just add up 54k naka-matic ka na. Based on the comments dito at sa ibang sites, same complaints: Fuel consumption.

  44. Hi Guys,

I own a manual Picanto. The average consumption is 7 to 8 kms. per liter. I brought it to Kia Alabang for fuel test. The first test was conducted by Kia Alabang and the result was 19 kms/liter on highway driving but it only registered at 4.78 kms/liter on city driving.
Kia Alabang reported the result to Kia plant.
A second test was conducted by the KIA plant personnel. The result was 16 kms/liter on highway driving and 7 kms/liter on city driving.
The Kia plant personnel admitted to me that based on their tests, the KIA Picanto 2011 can only run at an average of 10 kms/liter. That it cannot reach the 20 kims/liter on city driving that the dealers/agents claim.
It is also very far from the claim of the Kia Picanto tv commercial of 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers. And very far from the claim of Columbian Autocar president, Ginia Domingo that the 2011 Kia Picanto is VERY FUEL EFFICIENT.
We have to return our unit since Kia did not meet their promise of fuel efficiency. This is false advertising and fraud.

  45. Greetings from Kuwait - just read reviews on the kia picanto. We bought one here in July - comes with the 1.2 engine and dual airbags and we took the auto version.
I think I have the key to the consumption figures. When it was hot here - it gets to 50c in summer - i could only get 400k on a completely full tank. now it is colder, I can get 480k. The answer is in the airconditioning. with it turned off, the consumption improves radically. Not that fuel cost is a big deal - my 480k costs just 300 pesos here in kuwait.
We are delighted with our purchase and will probably buy one to keep in Philippines

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Guy from Kuwait,

Per my research the Kia Picanto released in other countries like US, Australia, New Zealand are really fuel efficient because all the features are included. It is different here in the Philippines. They took out some of the features and that might be the reason why the Picanto here in the Philippines is not performing as well as those released in other countries.

  50. Hi Guys,

We are already doing some actions to expose this false claim/fraud of Kia. We have already informed our dealer, Kia Alabang, that we will return our unit and we are demanding for a full refund of the money we paid.

The general sales manager of Kia Alabang said the 7 – 8 kms/liter consumption of our car is NORMAL. He also said that there no other complainants except me and my wife.

We all have do our part and file a complaint to Kia and copy DTI, DOE and other concerned agencies to prove to Kia that there are many complainants and that we will not let them get away with this FRAUD.

We could also use the social networking sites like facebook, twitter, multiply, etc. to inform our relatives and friend about this false claim/fraud of Kia.

We could file a class suit against Kia if they refuse to give us a full refund of the money we paid.

DTI. DOE and our lawyer said that we have a very strong case against Kia.

I would appreciate it very much if you guys coulld contact me through my email jun_theproducer@yahoo.com

  54. Ok... so here's an update... recently, I've been getting a little improvement on my Kia Picanto. City driving (where I'm running 20kph-45-kph) I'm getting 9-11Km/l. And this xmas season, I found myself driving to and fro Manila-Pampanga and Manila- Laguna. Highway driving is 14-16Km/l.

I found that my Kia is most efficient when running between 60-110kph. Anything lower than 60 means you're running 20-60kph city driving... as long as you don't step too aggressively on the gas too much and keep a normal calm driving style, you'll get 9-11km/l. In highway speeds, if you keep between 80-110, you'll be able to get 14-16km/l. Anything beyond 110, and you're pushing the engine and will result in lower FC. In traffic, all bets are off... ;p

All of this is in my experience. Take it at face value. I had the car for 5 months now and I still love it. I gas up (full tank) every 5-6 days (that's for home-work-home routine with a little mall tour on the weekends but it should be noted that I live 10 minutes away from a mall) and that is still better than my old car (which I also love!), a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6.

  56. Hello Anonymous of Jan 23, 2012,

That really depends on you. Like you, I fell in love with the look and feel of the new Kia Picanto. But fair is fair, and the FC is bad but from me, who is coming from a 1.6, it is still a definite improvement. I don't really know if the FC will improve pa over time and if FC is your number one priority in a car, then I don't think that the Kia Picanto will give you any joy. If you are looking for a long term car, then you will have to find a car that will satisfy your need for FC efficiency and looks. There are others out there like the Ford Fiesta and the Honda Jazz, they're much more pricier but I hear that the Fiesta is really fuel efficient. Shop around and I know that you will find a car that is fit for you! If you do find one and happy (or not with it) please come back and share with the rest.

    Thanks!

  65. Ok. I was really hell bent on getting this new picanto until I came upon this review and read about the disastrous 8-10km/L FC. That's terrible! My 19yr old daihatsu charade 1.0 has a 10-12km/L FC city driving (I use the full tank technique and calculate my FC with an iphone app). Now I am having second thoughts on getting the new Pic. I really hope Kia has solved the FC problem of the new Pic. 8-10km/L FC on a 1.0 is terribly, terribly, terribly low considering that the engine is already fuel injected. In contrast my charade with its old school carburetor performs better. There is really something wrong with the Picantos here in the Philippines if they only manage 8-10km/L. This is so sad. I really wanted this car. :-(

  66. Recently I bought a Kia Picanto 2012 in Sri Lanka. I am also surprised to experience that it does only 10Kms/Ltr. I was told by the Kia agents in Sri Lanka that it will do max of 15Km/Ltr eventhough the spec says 21Kms/Ltr (under factory conditions). I was expecting at least 12Kms/Ltr, but its not. When I complaied about this to the agents, they said after the first service which is due at 1000Kms, the car might do well, but when I enquired the same from the service station, they said that at 1000Kms service they only change the oil filter and oil and and that will not make the fuel consumption better. I am really confused now, and do not have a choice than using the car. I specially selected this car coz of its published fuel efficiency. If this was the case I could have bought a much bigger car which consumes same. In Sri Lanka fuel is unbelievably expensive and its sky rocketing. The positive sides are, it has a good exterior look, the interior is hard but looks sleek, and small features (which are not available in other cars) makes me happy. If anyone wants to buy the Picanto, wait for some moretime and see whats Kia is planning to do to for this problem. Somehow they have to address this or take back their words if they want to sustain in the small car market

  67. Hi Guys - same here, want to buy a Picanto 2011 A/T but I am now confused as well. I already paid the reservation fee just today too. At first, my agent was saying and hesitant to offer Picanto A/T and my wife caught her saying something like it would be phased out so better buy a M/T 1.2L variant w/c is the top of the line. But my wife really likes a 'matic model - not sure now what to do. My agent is saying that there will be new models coming this 2nd week of March but she's not sure if it the units will have the 'matic versions. If there are 'matic versions coming, does anyone know if the FC issue has been resolved? Thanks! this forum is really helpful.

But we have to keep in mind that a car will perform well at least when it passes 5000Kms. Currently I am running at 1000Kms. If anyone has a Picanto which has done more than 5000Kms can give us the feedback

The dealer told me I got 2 options, first I was informed that new picanto is different than the other standard cars that needs to have the oil changed on its 1st 1000kms they told me that I can have it first oil changed after 7,500kms.. 2nd option is it depends on my discretion if still want to have it oil changed after its 1st 1000kms.. is this really true? that I can really wait for the car to reach the 7,500kms before I have it oil changed with no worries about the engine? please advise thanks..

    1. I think its a must to change oil and the filter at 1st 1000kms, I was advised to come atleast before 1100kms for this service. I have used a Honda, Toyota Corolla, Maruti & Toyota G Touring, I was adviced by all companies to do the said service. Dont go for the 7500km option coz it will harm your car

Then at every 5000kms you will have to do the service

Today I gave my car to Auto Miraj for the 1st 1000km service. They will change the oil and the oil filter and a exterior and interior detailing

  74. thanks for the comments! nice!

to some posters. remember that the very reason why people buy a compact car is because of fuel consumption. maybe 90% do so.... and if the fuel consumption is 8km/ liter, this is already the same consumption i get from my 1996 rav 4 which has a 2.0 engine on city driving and gets 11km/liter on the highway

for me, a sub compact car should at least double the mileage to make the sacrifice of a smaller car worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. guys - no body come back yet about the FC when it reaches above 5K mileage. FC will get better as surpasses this mileage - other bnew cars are the same as well. This is a 1.0/1.2 engine only - where do you think all the fuels go??? peace

  77. any update on the FC of picanto 1.2 m/t?

    ReplyDelete
  78. to all readers,

as of this date, i think the FC problem for the 2012 Picanto is for the A/T ONLY. The M/T does better in terms of FC, and getting a good FC in manual reflects the skill of the driver.

Im also planning to buy this car but would prefer the M/T (im still young, to me a/t are for the oldies and people that wants all comfort, less body stretches). - dont get mad, its my opinion. Aside from that, Im still doing my research regarding issues of this model. Maybe by the time we decide to put our money down, the Mirage (Mitsubishi) will be rolling out of showrooms., thus adding one in our options.

also, take note, FC is also affected by what we call power-to-weight ratio. Means a lower displacement car may not be as fuel efficient as a regular car with engines 1.6L to 1.8L. If your weight class fall under middleweight to heavyweight, then a 1.0L car needs to push harder compared to a 1.8L .

    That's all folks.

    1. I guess i have to agree with you on this. I'm planning of buying picanto 2k12 and come up with these cases regarding the FC. And most of these FC related cases are A/T. Unlike M/T, wherein we can shift to higher gears and make our travel efficiently. (Timpla timpla ng gasolina ika nga ng mga driver)

And with regard to the weight, it does really have a great effect on the engine as well to think that your engine is only 1.0 to 1.2L. :)

Hope to received some comments on M/T regarding FC.

I have dreamed of having a car since I learned how to drive in my early years in high school and I think I'm ready to own one now, I know you guys are all concerned about FC and all and I know that is important of course but I have other questions since you know better when it comes to choosing a car model. My main concern is the price, I realized that if you get a car loan and opt for 60 months you will end up paying so much interest! They jack up the price on you and it makes me sick just thinking about it. Personally, I fell in love with the design of the Picanto model and I was able to get in the car on one of their mall shows just to get the feel of it, but when it comes to really owning one which involves your savings and stuff, what is the best way to go? Are there any financial institutions here in the Philippines that would let you borrow around P550,000 so you can pay the car in cash and just pay that institution with a much lower interest?

As for the specs and the FC, i have yet to find out. I also have concerns about going to dealer shops, can you just go there and request for a test drive or do you need to set an appt or something? (can be a silly question) and lastly, for city driving like EDSA...route will be MANDALUYONG-THE FORT --- what is the best option, MT or AT? I have always driven a MT car.

    Hope you guys can help.

    love the blog!

  85. Hi... I just got my new 2012 1.0 M/T Picanto 3 days ago. As I observed with my FC, it seems to be consuming more than expected. Roughly about 7Km/L. However, you really have to take note that as that car breaks in, it will improve. I notice that as I passed the 100Km ODO mark consumption tends to be lesser on city driving but lesser on highways. As of now, I am getting roughly around 12-14L/Km and still increasing but slowly.

Be patient with the Picanto guys. It's small but it can perform. It all depends on your driving style and break-in methods. I am very happy with mine but still observing the mileage.

PS: Don't bother with the ECO shift indicator. It will make you consume more fuel. Instead, try changing gears once the engine reaches 2250RPM. It would also help if you try to downshift as often as possible to the correct gears. (1)0-10, (2)11-20, (3)21-30, (4)31-40, (5)41 onwards. Don't floor the Picanto, it's not built for racing. Just do short burst of gas every now and then when you reach a specific speed just to maintain it.

  86. Does it really have a bad fuel consumption? I'm thinking of getting the new picanto. My main concern is the fuel consumption. Please help me decide guys. And by the way, what are the available colors of Picanto in Manila? Is the green one available?

    Thank you.

  87. Hi guys for now we are really appreciated the threads specially to liyo this is very informative...anyway we have planned and decided to acquire kia picanto AT coz it is pretty sure we gonna enjoy this car lalo na kung galing ka sa 2.7 toyota fortuner...i've been noticed we have a common denominator in terms of concerns which is FC anyway for us malaking tipid na ito comparing in our current car di talaga economical gamitin pang hatid sa school lalo na four times pabalikbalik sa school...but may ma question pa din ako regarding picanto?

*if ever na di reliable yung FC bakit walang available na unit na picanto AT?
*ilang unit ba dinala dito sa pinas? Sa sta.rosa branch may isa a mettalic silver naka reserved pa.
*lemon grass color di rin sure kung may darating this july?
*naubos lahat ng picanto ibig sabihin maraming bumili maraming natuwa kasi kahit ang bank financing wala daw makuha? (all dealers in metro manila)

  88. My suggestion is don't get the AT. FC on that thing is terrible. Lower engine specs tagged with AT is a bad combination.

With regards to FC concerns, I have been getting good FC on my Picanto. Right now I've been hitting 12Km/L constantly without any effort and a stronger engine. Just have to break it in some more. Just got 1400Km recently. I'm already scheduled for a change oil with Kia Sucat this Saturday. Hopefully after that FC will further improve.

The units on the other hand, Kia only releases quite a few units here. If you can observe, you don't really see a lot of Picanto's on the street. I think this is because a lot of people still prefer big and stronger cars rather than smaller agile ones. You do see a lot of Sportages and Sorentos though. I went through the wait list just to get mine. Just keep following up with your agent. I suggest going to Kia Sucat and look for my agent, Carlo Ramirez, He got me my unit in less than a week and another for my approval. Very accommodating too.

Anyway, 32km approx from house to office balikan tpos full tank lage every payday.

  90. After sales service of kia is great. PMS is quite affordable.. currently own a 2012 sportage and now planning to dispose of my 06 chevrolet optra for a picanto! hehe.. =) Picanto is indeed the best in its class! The spark is great but please be informed that their after sales service is horrible and very very expensive, from my experience atleast. I will never purchase another chevy.

Just have one quick question for the current 1.0 picanto a/t owners.. Can the A/C unit handle rush hour traffics along edsa? yung tirik na tirik araw.. thnx! =)

  92. I really amaze about my Kia Picanto 1.2EX kc hindi lang sa elegant interior and exterior eh natry ko pa ang good handling despite na nabutasan ako agad ng gulong last month sa C5...at take note sa unahan pako nabutasan while i'm droving 80km/h, talagang na-appreciate ko ung stability ng breaking power nya even though wla cyang ABS dto satin...un nga lang ang hirap lng maghanap ng tire size na 175/50r15 dto kasi daw malimit pa na mga client bumili ng mga ganun sa mga tire suppliers. In terms of FC swabe naman cya hitting 12km/l for a 1.2 ... eh sa celerio 1.0 kaya malaki tlga ang difference sa FC... And the one more thing I like about it is when we had the Habagat (Undoy 2), natest ko cya dahil nailusom ko pa cya mga siguro almost half of my tire was in the flood...this car does not let me down ^_^

  93. Hello, I am from Dumaguete City and my Wife and I are planning to buy a 2012 A/T Picanto..After reading this reviews in doubt naman kami sa picanto kasi our plan is to buy this car due to its fuel efficiency. Now if its only 8-10KM/L parang ang lakas na gasolina nyan..Hindi ba traffice yung isang factor dyan sa manila kaya 8-10 lang? Dito sa dumaguete hindi masyado malakas traffic...I need your help guys. We are planning Either picanto, eon or spark. thank you

  94. Ok back guys after a few months of using my 1.0 M/T Picanto. Bottomline. GREAT car. in terms of FC questions here's the deal. FC if you don't get into traffic is 6.5L/100. That's about 18Km/L. But if you pass through traffic often that's 10Km/L. Still not bad compared to average vehicles with a minimum of 9Km/L. I love this car.

  95. Hi guys! Anyone encountered starting problems? my pica 1.2 starts after the 2nd or 3rd attempt..Tsaka yung sa likod handbrake na patungan ng drinks, karton o hard paper ba? just wondering kasi sa akin nawala after car wash and exposed na yung underneath the handbrake na parang metal wires. Thanks need your help. Please share kung meron kayo encounter any problems as well. Thanks again.

  96. Just for info...after almost a year of waiting for results re: squeaking sound in the engine.. finally kia was able to solve the problem...they changed the Damper and belt...two units of picanto A/T here in our place have same problem.

It took them awhile to see the problem...at first they changed the belt, then the tensionaire and now the damper...

Sign for the problem is the squeaky sound..you can hear it when starting the engine and when the aircon is turned on...

    hope this will help...

  97. Hi...we went to dakak beach resort in dapitan city, zamboanga del norte last weekend...the distance travelled is approximately 330 kms and a total of about 660 kms round trip...from zambo city to dakak my trip computer registered 6.5L/100km - that's about 15.38 kms per liter...

our return home the trip computer registered 7.0L/100km - that's about 14.28 kms per liter...

Combination of downhill, uphill, rough roads, and long straights are the road conditions encountered...

In my experience, i was able to save on fuel using the picanto than the mit adventure n toyota avanza 1.3 ...

    ReplyDelete
  98. Hi! regarding fuel consumption, it depends on your driving style. during my break-in from manila, had 5.4l per 100km through nlex to pampanga. then achieved my best fuel consumption 4.3l per 100km from libis to pasig at 4am. btw, my picanto is 1.2 ex 2012. (although during my first 2 or 3months only achieved 12l per 100km, super taas).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. such number is achievable if road conditions are good and full of long straights...the 6.5L/100km for an uphill and rough road conditions is not that bad...and aircon is on with 3 passenger on board...36 psi tire pressure for front and rear..

Ganon din sabi nila sa ibang kasa na parehas daw. Pro nung chinect namin sa ibang 1.0 magkaiba sila. Pro tnx parin k ronie and paulo of kia alabang service sobrang asikaso. 104. Just got our new picanto last monday, its a 1.0 MT Ex. Really looks so sporty! We really like this new picanto model in terms of exterior & interior. We already handled kia prides before (LX & CD5), I can say that those cars are really fuel efficient & reliable one. Kaya tested n nmin quality ng KIA.

We got it from KIA SUCAT, gas up to the nearest station for 1k. So we travel from sucat - sjdm bulacan the fuel gauge was almost half full (almost 3/4) hehe.. As this car is only 35L, estimated mga 1.5 full tank na. Im really amazed na hindi man lng bumaba ng kalahati ung gas khit matrapik s edsa.

And on day 2 we test drive it to SM Fairview, back & forth still consuming whats left in d tank, and roaming around our town still hindi p rin kmi ngpapagas.

On day 3, since i had a 4 days off, we decided to go to SUBIC FREE PORT. I noticed na nsa pangatlong guhit na lng from bottom ung fuel gauge, so i gas again sa bocaue exit before entering the loong NLEX road. I just gas for 500 petot.

To make the story short, since we're not familiar going to pampanga-subic-olongapo. Medyo naligaw pa kmi. Instead of taking the SCTEX, naiba ung route namin. As far as I can remember (Jose Abad Santos Ave. - guagua - porac - lubao - bataan )

Well, we still made it to subic, excited mga kids s duty free. So on our way home, s SCTEX na kmi dumaan, I gas again for another 1k. Daming toll gates, namumutiktik hehe.. Nkaiwas kami papunta pero palabas hindi na.. Its a VERY VERY LOOOOOOOOOOOONG TRAVEL.. Buti na lng, roomier & ok na ok ang sound system ng new picanto. And my kids love it!

When we got home, the trip reads 275 km. And the fuel gauge is almost half full. Take note, naka a/c pa dahil sobrang humid at init ng byahe.

Nasa break in period pa lang ung car, but im starting to appreciate & love this car! FC's also depends on driving style. Magaan lang din kc ako tumapak s gas. And shifting to high gear also contributes. For me, this car's FC is really efficient. Tipid pa rin.

Will recommend this car? Yes, definitely especially ung MT. hehe!

    1. bro maybe you can share your ways to maximize the FC of your pica, the way you change gear, are you following the ECO in shifting, in what speed do you normally shift gear from 1st to 2nd to 3rd til the 5th... this would really help others appreciate their pica FC ;)

  105. our new picanto 2013 will release tomorrow . i would like to ask if what is your maximum fuel consumption ?in city driving for the picanto 1.0 at ?

  106. update - on the 2012 1.0 a/t kia piccanto :) i was just recently taught by my dad to manually compute for the fuel consumption using the top off method and i got 13kms/l. i only use it to work but my route at the time was from san pedro - slex - edsa - ayala during nights. i don't think that's too bad na, though i'm not sure if it matters - my current mileage is a bit above 9000kms palang. anyways. on the negative side, i blew out my left front tire last november when i drove along a rather deep pothole on slex; buti nalang hindi nagswerve but it was such a pain to get a replacement tire =/ sana with the many piccanto users dumali -dali na yun ng onti. my brother says that he sees a lot of piccanto's with tires other than hancook; i guess sakit talaga nung tire na madali syang mabutas =/

now the only issue i have is that there's this squeaking thing whenever i lower down the driver's window. i had it checked sa kia alabang and they actually performed a full check up on the unit, yun nga lang, for order pa daw yung replacement thingie nila. anybody else having this problem? kasi ronnie and the other dude didn't look that surprised when i described the issue eh.

  107. Hi veiledmusings,

Glad to see the FC of the picanto improved. Are there other owners out there who with the AT who has this kind of FC? I've always admired the Picanto and want the AT (sick and tired of traffic...yes...i seem to be getting old...add lack of exercise to that...lol) but am quite hesitant because of the horror stories i've read regarding the FC.

Hope the others can also share if their FC for the AT has improved. Anything over 12km/L is good. The Celerio AT (depending on driving habits) goes from 12km/L to 18km/L (if my memory serves me right). The Spark goes around 12km/L to 17km/L i think...based on some of the other reviews i've read.

I've test driven all three (AT versions)...and the Picanto AT has the most torque, the most power, the best looks interior and exterior. The plastic doesn't feel cheap. it looks like a luxury model compared to the other two (my apologies for the Spark and Celerio fans). I'm a fan of the Celerio too because of the outstanding FC. The spark...i like because it was in Transformers...:D

In any case, thank you to all those who has posted here and of course to liyo for writing this blog. More power to you sir. :)

  108. Hi there. Been reading your comments here for 2 days na. Since we got our pica last june 21st. It was our first investment as boyfriend-gf pa lang kmi. Bforehand we went to mitsubishi to check for the mirage then went to suzuki for the celerio and finally got our eyes on to kia picanto mt 1.0. To be honest i really dont have a lot of ideas regarding cars and its specs. What i like the most with our pica is its stylish design inside and out. The moment we saw it, we fell in love with it that easy. That it somehow made us to become impulsive buyer. Since we just went to kia june 11 and bought our pica june 21 that was about what 10 days span of time. Knowing we're just 23 yrs old having just a slight stable job of my bf and me as a private nurse in marikina. But just to share it with you guys, that 10 critical days, i myself did a reasearch about the reviews on pica. And honestly ive just seem few positive reviews and a lot nega about its FC. Then we have had our second though given we already made a reservation. But nonetheless, we still bought the car praying and hoping it was really the best car for me and my boyfriend. My bf lacks driving skills but still he managed to drive the car without any problem aside from its FC which i told my agent about it. Sbi ko sknya if tama ang computation ko d moment na nkuha nmn un car we're just gettin like roughly 6-7km/l. Pro sympre sbi ko im sure hnd nmn cguro tama computation ko. But as days went by, especially when my bf finally drive the car from marikina to ortigas, ung daily allowance nmn for the gas just met our expectatation. Knowing he's not a pro huh. And most of the times nmmtayan pa sya ng makina pro still managed to use the car. Hahaha. Ngustuhan tlg nmn un pica lalo red pa toh? Prng mini innova ang dating nakakatuwa. If you'll take a picture from afar mkha tlgng mini innova. Haha. To sum up, super happy kmi s first baby nmn. C UNO our picanto baby. Sna hnd kmi magkaron ng big problems in the near future kc so far super ganda nmn ng performance n nbbgy nya samen as first time car owners. Not to mention the super tagal na paglabas ng seat cover nmn huh? Infairness july 2 na but we havent get iur seat cover. And just a few questions though, pwd po ba palagyan ng gps un pica? Kc i remember nun 2011 yta un, nginquire kmi s hyundai for the i10. Nay promo ng sila na 18k all in tas may lcd, gps, tv and back camera pa e. just wondering if pwd mainstallan kht ng gps lng si picanto? Ska when it comes to directions kc super dami pa nmin kelngan aralin :(
Thank you sa mga comments nyo. Super nagenjoy ako mgbda and so far kung happy kyo happy rin kmi s picanto nmn.
    Thank you guys!

As for the FC, i did the full tank method from cavite to isabela and got 16km/L and 6.2L/100 registered on the computer board, almost the same. Then i was able to achive 5.5 and 6.1L/100km or 18-16km/L combined city and highway driving from cavite to pangasinan... 11-13km/L in heavy and moderate traffic... Still, im satisfied with my Kia Picanto... =)

I own a PICA 1.0 M/T color red...Well sa observation ko sa PICA ko.. malakas talga ang FC nya sa traffic and short distance drive. Pero sa long drive nakapag register ako 4 to 5 klmtrs / 100....which ang tipid...pero city driving register minsan 9 - 12 minsan 13 pa / 100......yung guage nang fuel tank pag pinatay mo then start ka ulit..gumagalaw kagad pababa.Parang after you off the engine then start again mag register yung previous conusmption mo sa guage which magugulat ka bigla nababawasan ang guage.... I dont know tuloy kung tlgang accurate yung trip computer.....

    1. try mo maintain ang fuel tank mo above mid level... correct me if im wrong, may float sa gas tank para ma detect ang level ng fuel... once on mo sasakyan mag deliver ng fuel ang fuel pump mo papunta sa makina kaya nagbabawas ang fuel tank bababa ang float...

  122. Hi, Will buy the EX AT next week Friday as we are waiting to have our carport renovation done. Will share you my FC experience. I also believe that it always depends on the driver of the unit. Most people's mindset if they have like a 1.0 / 1.2 vehicle they think that they would really save a lot on gas as they just depend on the unit's theoretical FC. This is to let you realise that we have to work hand on hand with our vehicle (cooperation) so that it meets, exceeds (not most of the time), or almost meet our expectation in FC. Best Regards.

Kung over FC icoconsider nyo go for the others brand. Okay naman ang perfomance nya just the Fuel Consumption.
